Hi I am pretty new to childminding. I would just like some advice please. I am planning having my house re pebble dashed I am aware I need to do risk assessments but do I need to inform Ofsted. Is it classed as majour building work? Thanks

It does not change the space available to children or changing the property in any significant way, so I can not see why Ofsted need to know.

I would risk assess during the work, but wouldn't inform ofsted.

Whenever I've had work done on the premises and/or garden I've risk assessed; reviewed the RA every two weeks to take account of progress and changes; and informed Ofsted. In the days when Ofsted would answer the phone within 20 minutes, I spoke to one of their trained telephone chickens, whose attitude was one of: why the cluck are you bothering to tell me. More recently I inform them by post, and don't even get so mch as an acknowledgement.
