I am going along to an Ofsted Big Conversation north west meeting with different providers and Ofsted on Friday next week... I am happy to take along any current concerns from childminders...

I need evidence - dates and inspector names - Ofsted will not act on hearsay.

Please message me if there is anything you want me to raise. Thank you! :D

How long do you have ?
Good luck...London OBC is meeting on 19 Janiary 2016 at Ofsted HQ...agenda will include Prevent, British Values and inconsistency in inspections which June O'Sullivan wants feedback on!

Once it is confirmed I will post the date...maybe some cms will come along and keep me company!

How's about adding, "Why choose a weekday for the OBC? Is there any chance of holding the London OBC on a Saturday?" This way, more childminders (who, due to parents needs may need to be available to work Monday to Friday rather close to attend an OBC) may be able to attend?

Just a suggestion.

I have raised this before...I assume The Ofsted panel who attend may not want to work on a Saturday?
I will raise it again but it would be helpful if other cms did so too...I have no problem with weekdays or weekends....more voices would make a difference and carry more weight!

Lollipop kid...sorry to come back and for the deviation....but I think Sarah said in her thread she is attending a different OBC...not her own...which is on a Friday

Sarah is giving her time and effort for this as HH has clearly said and thanked her for....a few cms have done the same from the start of OBC...fair is fair I believe!

I assume the organisers and venue's availability decide on which days these meetings are run

I am not sure which area you are but you can contact your CM' rep on OBC...there is one in each of the 7 areas.... and put that query to her.
You could also log in to the OBC website and post your concern there.

again Sarah has asked for anything that cms wish to have asked...you could do the same....the agenda is more or less the same in every OBC.

At the last OBC in London I was able to put several questions to the Ofsted panel about 'RATIOs'...mostly about what concerns cms have.
Not attending is not necessarily a missed opportunity if your concern is taken forward.

Thanks, Simona. Before I posted my note, I checked the calendar and understood Sarah's OBC is happening on a Friday, whilst the London one will be on a Tuesday. I just wondered if it might be possible for any to be on a weekend day. My parents currently need me Monday to Thursday, so if the London one was on a Friday, I'd love to go along (as long as I could get back for my children after school - I'm a parent as well, as I'm sure a lot of other childminders are).

I appreciate the heads up re. CM rep on OBC. I don't actually know how to find out, but I dare say I can start with asking my LA in case they know.

In addition, I very much appreciate being CM-represented on these, not to mention the personal time involved for that CM to gather information, attend and feed back. Awesome work. I was just playing 'devil's advocate' about the date.

All the best,

LK

LK...I hear what you say and have put this on my own agenda...for meetings to be at the weekend if possible.
Ours have never been and I have taken leave to attend.
LAs do not usually attend, PLA and the Independent CMs social enterprise do attend.

you can find out a lot more on the meetings by joining OBC website...just a password is required ...the minutes are there.
Also join June O'Sullivan's blog as she is the OBC founder
#OfstedBigConversation (http://www.thebigofstedconversation.co.uk/)

I assume you are asking about London OBC...there are 2 Cms reps on that...I am one of them.

I usually have a long list of cms' issues as I read and pick them up...the same as Sarah I suppose....some cms do email me at times.

Hope it helps and apologies for the deviation.
