I can't seem to find what year childminders started to be regulated by ofsted and I want to use it in my current assignment for my degree. I thought I'd ask those of you who remember from experience? Thank you!

Ah thanks mouse that's just what I was looking for!

It was august 2001. Just as I was moving house, social services stopped i1st July and ofsted took over end august I moved in July and no one knew who was supposed to register me.

Agree 2001. I was registered by social services in April and had my first inspection in October half term by OFSTED.

I know I gave up the first time round in about 1998 and it was still Social Services - not sure I really knew what all the other childminders were moaning about when I re-registered in 1995 and not many of those pre-Ofsted childminders left now in my town. :(
