I am now beginning to work on a Saturday for one child who is 11.

When I had my pre reg I said I only intended working Monday - Friday, do I need to inform Ofsted that I would be open on a Saturday?

EYFS, Sction 3, 3.77 says you need to notify Ofsted of changes to hours in which childcare is provided. So yes, I would send an email and keep a copy for my records.

I agree with Moggy. Email them, let them know of the change, then print off a copy of their reply which will probably be along the lines of "thanks for letting us know. We have made a note of the changes".

Even though it's not for a child in the early years?

Ah, didn't notice that! Sorry.
I only work with EYFS age group, so I have no experience of changes to working hours for Childcare Register.

If the child is 11 you do not need to be registered to care for that age.
The childcare register is for children up to age 8 ...give Ofsted a call for your peace of mind

Same as Moggy, I didn't read the age bit.

As the child is over 8 you probably wouldn't need to inform them, but I still would do.

Ofsted are a funny bunch and I sometimes think it's worth telling them something, even if it doesn't seem relevant. For the amount of time it takes to send an email I would do it. If it isn't necessary you've not lost anything, but if you ever come up against an overzealous inspector it might be good that you've told them.

Yes, because I wonder if they know you are 'open for business' on a Saturday for this child working as a Registered childminder, that they might possibly say it is a 'change of working hours' for your CM business (although not in this case for a EYFS child, but potentially could be)?

Ofsted have just updated the factsheet 'registration not required' in June 2015.....children over 8 do not require registration!
