Hi, I have been helping out at a primary school and have been offered a temporary part time job - it means I will still be able to childmind before and after school and in school holidays if I wish, so I want to keep my registration going. However, I have an inspection due but have no EY children. At the moment I do not want to take anymore EY children on as I am hoping to get a permanent job in a school. My question really is if I am inspected with no EY children will the inspector still want to see resources eg posters, toys, equipment etc as I am wanting to declutter my house a bit.

Has anyone else been in a similar position who could advise? TIA xx

Your practice will be inspected for meeting the requirements but you won't be graded because the inspector cannot see your teaching .
This is the latest update of inspections....May 2015
Page 25 explains what happens when you have no children on roll.

Whatever you do, make sure your paperwork/policies/procedures are all up to date as if you are still minding/intend to start minding Early Years the next day.

I haven't minded for 2 years so haven't kept up to date. I was planning to start up again in September and get updated before i started but apparently thats not good enough! My inspection report looks appalling.

If Ofsted actually concentrated on inspecting people who are minding, maybe they wouldn't be so far behind!

This is the document Ofsted will use to inspect you - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/inspecting-registered-providers-with-no-children-on-roll-or-no-children-present-at-the-time-of-the-inspection

I hope it goes well :D

Some of the previous documents about inspections have been withdrawn due to the new framework being published yesterday

This is the new document...page 6 section 17 explains about inspection with 'no children on roll'
The rules about having no children have slightly changed...if unsure check with the Ofsted helpline
