Does anyone know how to go about this? I have come to realise over the hols that things would have been easier if I had registered the boys bedroom upstairs. It has never been a problem previously but I have a wider age and sex difference this year. I have the upstairs toilet registered for emergencies if the downstairs is out of use. As the children who would be using the upstairs room are all over 8 do I need to speak to Ofsted? Any advice gratefully received in order to avoid a call to Ofsted. and hopefully just write a letter.

I'm just registered to use downstairs at present but I want upstairs registered as well, now.
My inspector told me that if I ever changed my mind to write to Ofsted and explain to them how I would keep upstairs safe (include a risk assessment). The inspector told me to include her name in the letter so that they could check with her that it would be ok for me to register upstairs.

She also said I wouldn't need an inspector to come out as long as I include a risk assesment.

I told the pre reg inspector that I was only using downstairs, definitely not upstairs (!) and then decided to put the travel cot in the spare bedroom so I just rang Ofsted and they told me to put that in writing and then they sent me a letter confirming it was ok and didn't come round to check it. I did say the windows would be locked and there is a stair gate at the doo in my letter.

Maybe different here in Scotland, but i am adding my spare room upstairs in and they sent me a variation form, and I have to wirte why I want it changing and also risk assess it. doesn't seem to say if they come out or not though

Thanks guys. I think I will just do a letter with a risk assessment and a couple of photos of the room. Its silly really because the boys are my son's friends and when they come to play they can go upstairs as they are not mindees but in the hols when they are here for the day they cant
