Morning ladies i am trying to fill in my fire safety checklist in to send off to the local fire & rescue service HQ but i confused (stuck) on one of the Q it asks do your final exits, such as front door, back door etc open without use of a key and it says if you answer no any anything then my premises are inadequate but surely you need to lock doors with a key for safety i always keep my doors locked with a key on a hook high up to stop my 3 year old escaping TIA Helen

Hi there, I have nailed a wooden rectangle shape maybe 20cm by 5cm at the top side part of my door. Then when I am childminding I slot it across the door from the door frame. Thereby stopping anyone opening the door but I don't have to actually lock it. Not sure if I have explained it very well. If you want to give me your email address I can send you a photo of it.
