Many cms have reported being called by either Tribal or Prospects to 'update details' ...then another call from the actual inspector prior to inspection.
I asked for clarification today on this on the new blog 'Ex inspectors for EYs'...you can see the reply here which has just been posted

I hope you find this helpful

Very interesting thanks. So the way I read the last bit is that there is supposed to be no chance of an inspector turning up unannounced unless there's been a complaint of course.
But some people are still reporting that happening arent they?
Its been almost 5yrs since my last one now. Im about to submit my latest sef. Hoping that will speed things up to get it over with!

There were a number of reports that this was happening...I did email Ofsted HQ about it and was referred to the guidance and told cms should receive a call a few days before
I have not seen any reports recently of 'unannounced' visits for a scheduled inspection...so let's hope they have stopped
As the ex inspector says it would waste a lot of money if the cm happened to be out
If we hear again we can flag it up...again I forgot to raise this issue at the London OBC but still time for others to raise it at their meetings and we can report it on the blog.

Well hopefully it wont start happening again, especially to me! Dont think I could cope with the shock but I suppose there would be no build up of stress when trying to anticipate when they will turn up :)
