I had my first grading inspection yesterday and was awarded an Outstanding... to say I am over the moon is an understatement! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Kudos to the kids who were delightful on the day and remembered that they went down the stairs and not the lift on our fire drill ;)

Am so relieved. A lot to live up to and maintain standards, but am so relieved it is over.

And if I ever see another policy..... hehe

I will be back with some tips of things she pointed out she liked soon! :)

Congratulations, I got an Outstanding at my first inspection on Monday too.

I'm still on a high and I don't think I'll quite believe it until I see it in the report. Do you feel like that?

I haven't got a clue what she said to me as once she said that I had an outstanding overall everything else went right over my head!

So pleased the children were all wonderfully behaved for you. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

I'm doing a party for all the children on Friday to celebrate. We're even going to do pass the parcel and I'll make sure they all have a little something to take home as a thank you for their wonderful behaviour. :D

Thank you so much everyone! :excited:

I have to say, I did not expect it. I just try hard with the kids and do the best I can. It's difficult to know what to expect when you have never been inspected before.

A couple of things happened that weren't the norm and I though 'Oh this is typical' ... my one child is just about 'toilet trained' and literally made a big stinky poo in his pants as she buzzed  haha... all taken in our stride, but amazing how he chose that particular moment! :)

I am sending out an email tonight to my parents to let them know (all my kids are part-timers) about the inspection. I did let the mum of the kids know when the inspector left and what the result was, and she came to fetch them with flowers for me last night - I could have wept. What a sweetie. It's things like that that make this job so much more than a job. I would never go back to the corporate industry full-time, not when this brings such joy into my life.

SimplyLucy... well done to you!!!!!!!!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: Yes, I think it'll hit home when I read the report... oh I hope it is soon! Great idea with the kids!

Oh boy, what a relief hey. :D

 i've been around for a while and like Pauline says I was shy to start with but now you can't shut me up!

Have you read about us all?

http://www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4893

We're a diverse bunch but we work well together and support each other :D

I used to live in London many moons ago - my dd was born at Queen Charlottes, Hammersmith, which is no more I believe.

I miss the life there sometimes but I love Knutsford too :D

I will have a look at that link later - great idea :)

I am not a city girl either, I come from South Africa :) I have English heritage - mum grew up in Cheltenham, gran the New Forest. I enjoy living where I am because I have the gloriously wild and wonderful Wimbledon Common literally across the road from me.

I would think very differently about continuing to live in Greater London were it not there across the road tbh.. we thought of moving to Tenterden for a while a couple of years ago. But stayed due to family, friends and church ties made here over the last 6 years.

I have never been to Knutsford! How far is it from the Ole Smoke?

Well, you get on the M1 and go north for a long, long time...

Then go onto the M6 and keep going north past Birmingham ...

Then you get to junction 19 and here we are!

We are hosting a rather large flower show this week and it's a bit busy on the roads...

http://www.rhs.org.uk/tatton/2008/index.asp

And a few years ago we had the totally brilliant Martin Bell as our MP after Neil and Christine Hamilton made a hash of the job. Now we've got the Shadow Chancellor.

We are the town on which the programme Cranford is based - not sure if you're into costume dramas - the author Elizabeth Gaskell lived and is buried here.

Full of history and characters from very old families who are all inter married ... bit scary to a newbie but you learn very early on not to say anything about anyone to anyone just in case they are related!

I like Wimbledon Common ... happy memories of picnics with friends :D

Thanks for this Sarah! Seriously, if coming that way, would love to pop in for a cuppa! Won't come this wkend though ;)

Looks like such a lovely looking town, I LOVE Cranford... I love period dramas (as well as detective dramas!). My fav is Pride and Prejudice. I do enjoy Elizabeth Gaskell very much too!

So do you eat your oranges like they do in Cranford? :littleangel:
