Hi

Going on what i was told by one of the other childminders in my area - they will only class you as outstanding overall if you get outstanding in every area - which sounds a bit harsh.

But congratulations - 4 outstandings is fantastic x

There will be many times when you have dealings with Ofsted and do not understand what they are doing or saying. Unfortunately, you will also find that most of the time they don't get it either.

What the grades mean is that you are a totally fab childminder but you had an inspector who, for whatever reason, didn't think every single thing you did had the 'wow' factor.

Because of this, she gave you 1 good, which she knew would bring your overall grade down to good.

I suggest you celebrate the fact that you are clearly brill at your job.

I hope the parents you work with appreciate that too! :D

The way I understand it, to get an outstanding grade you must receive outstanding in all areas, so I assume your grade will be good as you received a good in one area. It doesn't seem a fair way of grading and maybe it's time ofsted looked into a fairer system

thank you all for your replies, its a little bit annoying that the 5th good would of been an outstanding if my 1 yr old had not drank from another childs beaker, its always ur own kids that let you down!

Seems picky - the inspector shouldn't be surprised at a 1 yo doing that or was the criticism what you did/didn't do afterwards?

You can always wait to see what it says on your report and then challenge it

Still a fantastic result though

What you have achieved is superb, I am so surprised about the beaker bit.. I agree re challenging it when you see the report.. it's hardly fair imo!

That is a brilliant overall result. Be proud of it.

Yep its always you own that do it to you every time:rolleyes:  but it does seem nit picky and something that most children do - share a beaker, snotty tissue, germs......
next time set up little compartments for each child and put them in it! lol

that is fantastic and for a first inspection too!!! WOW

Yes perhaps the inspector wanted you to explain to your lo why they should not drink from others cups, but if you did then you ought to challenge it!
