hi guys i wonder if anyone can help me

am not yet a registered childminder i am at the beggining of my course currently but worrying about my partners crb check i am 23 and he is 25 and when he was 18 he commited 2 offences gbh and abh he done a 18 month sentence in prison. since he came out we have had 2 children hes in a manager role at his workplace full time we have a mortage and doing well for ourselfs you never would of known he had bad teenage years! i am thinking if the high chance is im going to be turned down should i quit while im ahead and get my money back before starting my course and doing my first aid course?

Best thing I would advise is ask ofsted. They make the decision so give them a ring.

I would of thought he has proved himself as a changed grown up man. So I would say it shouldn't hinder your chances but agree ring Ofsted and ask and maybe get them to email you the answer too so you have it in writing. A past is a past and if he has proven he is a "changed" person and learnt from his mistakes then you should be fine :-) Xx

If it gets flagged up during the dbs check then ofsted will have to make a decision.

They can put waivers on your registration such as he will not be allowed in the house while you are working.

unfortunately the only people who know this are ofsted so maybe a call to them to see what their advice will be

Yeah I know a child minder who's hubby had a gdh charge an was not allowed in the house when she is minding the children x

I know of another hubby who had a string of offences as he is an assistant now. It might be a no but unless it relates to the children I would be surprised.
