As some of you know the inspector turned up 2 weeks ago with no warning...I was going out and we re scheduled for today. Iv'e had 2 weeks of worrying now but thought I'd put down how it went!

I signed her in and we sat in the kitchen as the lo I had was doing sticking. First Q was whether I was familiar with the EYFS paperwork, however worded it differently but I said EYFS? so I said yes!

She started looking through bits and picked up one of my mindees files. Ive had this child and her sister for almost 6 years. She asked me where the medical consent was..could feel myself going downhill as I knew someone's file would be missing something. I know 100% ive done it but could I locate it..i said to her that mum & dad were doctors and that I knew I had it but after 6 years you have a LOT of paperwork. She was happy with this and said she would not put it as a recommendation. I look after 6 soon to be 8 children so thought it may take forever..everyone elses files had this bit on thank goodness.

She asked me about a previous complaint I had, had. (I had an inspector out back in Aug) and asked me to go over it again. this was quite annoying as ive done it once and, sounds awful but put in the clear! so wasn't sure why it needed going over again. I wanted her to see what I do and what I have done. However I did and apologised if bits didn't tally but it was a long while ago and im hopeless with dates so?!

The LO I had played fine and we jumped from playroom to kitchen and she asked me lots of Q's. After a while I asked her the time. 11.15am, 'ill be going in a minute she says' ..me deep down thinking 'yeeessss'!! she did a health & safety check of the house which I've never had done before and left..an hour and half she was here.

Things I felt were a little unfair/should have been done better..

The garden she felt was unequipped and some of it not useable. I explained that we rent and for the bottom part of it to be better as such involved us spending quite a lot of money. We weren't sure if we were staying here so hadn't yet done. Also we are never here. The reason it was unequipped was due to the horrendous weather we have had so everything was in the shed.

Although she was quite talkative on safeguarding she didn't check any of my certificates, first aid, fire escape etc. My health & safety file has things like my ICO paperwork and bits in, one of which was out of date (have renewed but no paperwork as yet) which she didn't pick up on.

The health & safety check was very vague..things like 'are there any hazards in this room?' This could have been dicussed at length as my thinking on this is I leave some stuff out as children need to learn that they cant touch some things..i just said 'no'! BUT she didn't check cupboards etc..one thing I kick myself over is I didn't have my fire blanket out it was in the cupboard and I only remembered this morning..annoying.

All in all I felt a little disappointed as do put a lot into my job and know all my parents are very happy with me. I hope it doesn't read too bad as I feel some parents do maybe read reports and think 'ah I wont bother with her, un useable garden' but then again ive done this for 10 years now and never had anyone come to me because of my Ofsted report so?!

Other than that in and out and was a very nice lady!

Well done! :clapping: I am preparing for mine and know that she will be unhappy with something, they always have to pick something you can improve of - it's just annoying when it's unfair

Many thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback :D

A nice glass of wine for you tonight!

Well done and don't spend half the night wishing you had said this or that - it's over and done with and hopefully you have got the grade you were hoping for. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I think most people having inspections at the moment have been ticked off for one reason or another about the garden - but what do they expect, if you had left out all your outdoor toys they may have been blown away or been broken by flying fence panels.

Well done :clapping: they have to find something so a garden fault in all this weather is tiny really.
