Hi,

Am I right in thinking that I can only give calpol (or its equivalent) to a child and not an un-prescribed cough medicine - the med is suitable for the childs age but is just an off the shelf product (child is just 12months)

I know i need the forms completed either way.

Thanks

As long as parent has signed the form, I would give cough medicine. Hadn't thought there would be an issue with it.

If the medicine is suitable for the child and providing I can see a reason to give it then I will give it with the correct form filled out. I wont give it if the parent just says the child is under the weather I will wait and see how the child is with me. Usually they are so busy playing they don't actually show any signs of needing any medicine.
