I've just spoke to CSSIW about applying for a variation allowing me to have 4 under 3's 1 day a week as one of my parents has had her university hours changed and is totally stuck for childcare. All my children will be between 2.5 and 3.5 with 2 of them leaving to start school in sept. I was wondering if anyone else had been granted a variation for anything similar or will I get it turned down? Thanks

In England you can do your own variation for continuity of care, you have to risk assess for 4 lo's and if you can manage your day to day activities ie getting out then it shouldn't be a problem, not sure if in wales it's the same.

It depends on your inspector and how they feel about variations - My last inspector said she could see no problem with a temporary variation that I needed. My new inspector says she will only grant in exceptional circumstances, she doesn't like to grant them, and says we have to apply and they will look at it no more than 4 weeks before it is required!
Friend had her inspection last Thursday and has 3 parents on or about to start maternity so she asked - we have the same inspector.

When I rung CSSIW they told me it wasn't up to inspectors to deal with them any more they've got a separate team of people who do
