Just filling out my tax return. I bought an 8 seater car for childminding. Can I put this on my tax return? X

Hi I bought a bigger car this time last year because I didn't have enough room in my old one. I'm claiming for it against my tax because if I wasn't childminding I wouldn't need use of a car! I'd claim for what you can! x

You have to be very careful when claiming big things like cars because of the way it is treated as an asset when you come to sell...

I suggest you contact HMRC and take further advice :D

You cannot just write down the whole cost of the car in one year. You have twooptions:

Option 1 - .45p per mile inclusive apart from interest on loan (check as this may be business percentage only) and a valet once a year

Option 2 - Capital Depreciation - you can claim the business percentage each year of this and everything related to you car.
