hi all iam about to go into childminding with my friend and her partner has a criminal record.
As we are working from her home he will need a dbs too.
Do we apply for a waiver for him now?? looked on ofsted and it states you ask for a waiver when you apply to register, but whats the point in paying to register when he might not get a waiver??
very confused lol. has anyone got any advice or been through the same thing,
our course starts jan and we would like to apply to ofsted then to be opened April
thanks everyone

DBS checks have to come through before you get your pre-registration visit from Ofsted.

So you apply to Ofsted - pay - DBS checks paid for and go - come back - medical checks for you and the other cm paid for and go - come back ...

Then if there's a problem with the DBS checks it will all stop until it is sorted.

Sometimes it delays things for months and months so I suggest if you want to get started you do it from your house and let your friend's application go through in it's own time...

Hth :D
