Hu everyone,
I missed a call this morning from a woman wanting to do my first Ofsted inspection so need to call her back in a minute to arrange a date.
Anyways, I'm a little nervous as I have my own son who is 2 and a minded child who is 9 months old. In two weeks time I'll have a one year old as well, although not sure how quickly she'll want to come so may be before this time.
I'm also 12 weeks pregnant and since my 9 month old started about five weeks ago I've been coping with severe exhaustion and all day nausea whilst settling her in and caring for her and my son. It has been quite tough and I know I need to catch up on some paperwork (need to do a new Risk Assessment for a start). This combined with my mindees age means that we don't actually do all that much. We:
- do basic care needs including meals and snacks, nappy changes and naps of course
- story time
- music time
- go for buggy walks or to play in the park
- play in the garden
- visit the library
- lots of free play
- some basic activities (treasure basket although 9 month old is currently petrified of anything that's not wood or plastic! sensory activities)
I find it hard with her (and the soon to be one year old) as they are both non-walkers, one year old hasn't even mastered crawling yet, and everything goes in their mouths which limits activities further.
Plus the baby groups in my area are all separated in to age groups (0-1s, 1-2s, 2-5s) and I'm still looking out for one we can all attend.
Is there more I should be doing with them? They are so young that they mostly seem happy playing by themselves with simple toys or sitting on my lap while I pull funny faces and tickle them, etc! Will she be judging me on how I care for my son also? I don't stick him in a corner and ignore him or anything! But he has developmental delays and his play is different from others his age (plays alone mostly. Lots of repeptitive stuff. Doesn't do any role play and rarely does any arts and crafts. Has difficulty with listening and attention so doesn't really respond to adult led-activities).
I'm also a little nervous about my paperwork. I use baby's days and have daily notes on the children including observations. Is it okay that it is all online or should I print things off for her to look through? Apart from observations and diary notes and RAs, is there any other paperwork she'll want to see? Ooh! practice evacuations! I'm behind on those! Anything else?
Any other advice would be welcome too. What should I expect? A bit nervous and slightly stressed out because I feel so awful all the time I don't know where I'm going to find the energy to get through this inspection :-(
Thanks everyone!
