Are Ofsted super behind at the moment or is this normal? It's 4 years since my last inspection. I know other minders who were 4 years in January and they've heard nothing!

5 yrs and satisfactory -other local CM only 3 yrs and goods have been re-inspected and I've heard nothing ....
I'm thinking about asking for my x5 £35 registration fees bk as they have done nothing for it. :- )
I'm guaranteed they will call me 1st week in sept telling me I'm hugely over due and i must pay £100 plus for inspection immediately ..
Just my luck ....

If your Inspection is overdue come September and they try to charge you - challenge it! It won't be your fault, it's theirs!!

Am I missing something, what is the £100 plus charge refereeing to? Is it MGC ?

I was just going to ask why you thought you would have to pay for reinspection.

I know no figure has been given yet for inspections - but was under the impression if i were to stay independent I would have to pay for next/on going inspections.
Iam Def staying independent
And def challenging any charge esp if they call 1st week in September.
I keep telling myself to not worry abt next inspection if they can leave me this long they are really not bothered are they - doesn't bother any parents - I'm full and my LA are being v supportive with new early education funding guidance and I am all ready to receive for both 2yr old and 3yr old funding come September.
I have done LA all singing all dancing accreditation process plus level 3 diploma etc. so they have agreed I can do funded places - think they are using the 'if working towards good grade and no other provision' line to benefit of child/parent/mine/ and LA.
But the ever waiting is so tiresome and very depressing when others local CM get seen b4. :-(

No nothing has been agreed on childminders paying for inspections and I think it was more if you wanted a reinspection after a bad grade :-)

There is no "due" anymore.
the current cycle runs from Sept 12 to July 16 and you will have an inspection in that time, just when the computer spits you name out
I spoke to my DO and in June there wasn't one inspection done out of 400ish because the inspectors were following up complaints.

mine was 4 1/2 years ago. however, I've told them I giving up my reg in september so doubt they'll waste their money coming now - here's hoping :laughing:

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding the situation, does anyone else think they might end up re-thinking this blanket 'automatic inspection following a complaint' policy? It surely can't be right that there are areas where they aren't doing any normal inspections because they're stuck handling complaints...?!

Yes but as my inspector said, although I was "Satisfactory" I was not a concern as no complaints or issues had been logged against me.
It was 4 1/2 years between my inspections and I had already been rescheduled due to inspector being put onto a couple of complaints. If they haven't heard about you then they are in no particular rush to come out.
