Have skimmed this - at first glance, lots of reference to teaching, less to playing.

That is why it's worth reading!!
Yes there are many more references to teaching... and learning... and early education...
It is very important that everyone recognises how Ofsted have changed the focus of inspections.
How do you show clear evidence that you are teaching the children - and that they are learning and making good progress?
If you can't answer that question you need to look again at your documentation :D

I have put a new blog in the forum blogs with some thoughts about this document -

I think it is a really important read for everyone! It is clear what Ofsted are looking for when you start to take it to pieces :D

Thanks for this Sarah707.
It really does focus the mind on what is important, and that I need to look at more training/education for myself.
Also that as childminders we are underestimated. I don't know how many people I know think its a cushy job, throw a few toys down and a trip to the park...easy money.

thank you.
yet again, not a particularly positive view of childminders and they also seem to forget that not ALL children attend ANY setting before school!
