Thanks Sarah, I will read it later too. 17 years old???????? I started work yesterday so I assume it won't be too long before I have an inspection? I have a little brother and sister and they both filled their nappies yesterday and I forgot to put my gloves on because we never had to use them when I last worked and it doesn't bother me about using them and obviously I washed my hands between each change and even remembered to wipe the mat but I might get pulled up on little things that are new and I forget to do. I used to just change the children on the carpet when I had a playroom!!!!

I'm sure lots of us remember those days ... the best way I have found is to get into a routine so you do it every time then you won't forget when the inspector comes cos it will be ingrained. :D

ALL providers are expected to implement the following policies and procedures. All except childminders, are expected to have written copies of these policies and procedures:
*a safeguarding children policy and procedure
*a policy for ensuring equality of opportunities and for supporting children with learning difficulties and disabilities
*a policy for administering medicines, including effective management systems to support individual children with medical needs.
*a behaviour management policy
*a procedure for dealing with concerns and complaints from parents
*a procedure to be followed in the event of a parent failing to collect a child at the appointed time
*a procedure to be followed in the event of a child going missing
*a procedure for the emergency evacuation of the premises.

Why???? Why can't we be like everyone else, why are we being separated yet again!! :panic:

I'll still be doing them because I feel it shows good practice.

Surrey is recommending that we still have them all in place as it is good practice.

Even the newly registered childminders are being encouraged to write these policies when they attend their training sessions (Surrey has replaced the ICP and First Aid training with a new system called CHiP which is run and delivered by the Early Years Team).

The Networks are also pushing and advising us to make sure that these policies are in place too.

I'm so glad to hear that Dee, don't you think that it just adds to the confusion as usual! some minders will be saying "but we don't have to, it says so in the booklet" while others will think that we do because they were told at their briefings!

I think it does make matters worse

I think this is why Surrey are recommending that all minders ignore the statement that we don't need them and to ensure they are in place.

Let's be honest........although not compulsory.......the Inspector will be looking for them when we are inspected so I think it really is a stupid statement and intend to ignore!
