Hi guys i need advise please, do ofsted and environmental health expect you to do a food hygiene from scratch every 3 years or are they happy with a refresher course? I just dont want to do the refresher course if they are going to moan about it. Anyone been in same situation ???

Ask your LA environmental health officer what they expect: it varies from one LA to another. Mine want us to do a full course, approved by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, initially. After that, they are happy with a course which doesn't necessarily carry the CIEH approval, just so long as my practice demonstrates there's no gap in my knowledge, IYSWIM. That said, the length and content of the 2 courses I did were identical, but the 2nd was provided free by my local play forum.

I think most courses cover the same things, which is good as you never know which parts will have new information in since you last did one. I guess you might save time doing an online course, or at least find it more convenient. But the key is to see what you EHO wants, cos they'll be inspecting you.

As a rule, I believe Ofsted are happy with whatever makes your EHO happy, so long as you have an in-date training certificate of some description.

It's up to your environmental health - not Ofsted - so like Bunyip suggests you should ask them :D
