The Ofsted inspector was due to come today, but she was a no-show :( I telephoned Ofsted who gave me her office number (of course, its all outsourced now) and her colleague said I was in her diary, but couldn't explain why she hadn't shown up.
So now I'm waiting for a telephone call to find out what is going to happen now. I honestly felt like crying, all that planning and stress for nothing. I know I am now all prepared for when they do come out, and for that I am really pleased, but I did want it over and done with today and not hanging over my head.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

oh goodness,
what a shame ( for you - being ready & all that )
maybe the inspector was ill/had car or family problems.
hope she calls you today and expains & re-arranges the inspection.

Hi loocyloo,
She called today to explain and apologise (repeatedly!) There was a breakdown in communication at their end, but to be honest she sounds so lovely that I am glad to be getting her and not the replacement I was supposed to get yesterday - if that makes sense? I know that I am not going to get preferential treatment and that we haven't got any sort of bond, but sometimes its better the devil you know!
Anyhow, she is coming next week - so another week of stress ahead of me!
Thankyou for responding to me x

This does happen now and again, due to illness etc, but it does seem strange that you did not get a call to say the visit was cancelled and why.

most people would ring in sick though wouldnt they ??
what a pain , on a brighter note , often you are more relaxed if there has been a delay
you kind of get past the point of stressing about it and when it does happen you might find that you are more chilled out
Good luck

so glad she rang & apologised.
also, now you've spoken to her, you won't feel quite so worried about her turning up, as she isn't 'unknown'! ( i know i spoke to mine a couple of times before my last inspection ( because i had to cancel it at 8.45am, as DS threw up in school playground, just as i had said bye! ) and then i had to speak to her again, as i had a few days i couldn't do in the time scale she had given me! )
