My co-minder (my mum) has just had her Ofsted inspection. She received Good which we are both happy about. Mrs O was lovely. She is very old school was a childminder herself and a grandmoher who absaloutly adores children. She chatted about her family and put my cominder at ease. Whilst observing she would chat instead of sitting in silence and typing.

She didnt venture outside or even open our risk assessments or procedures folder. She didnt ask to see parental permission for babies sleeping in pushchairs. Infact she said she prefers to see them sleeping in pushchairs in the garden. (not that we have parental permission).

She asked whether we have a plan of what we are doing everyday or whether we just free flow. She was happy when we told her we didnt really plan much as we liked to see whatt he day bought.

I have herd so many bad things about inspections and Im sure we are just very lucky here to have had a lovely lady.

Well done!

Why can't all inspectors be like that? I'm sure if they put more childminders at ease they's get an awful lot more out of us :)
