Hi there folks, I have pre-reg tomorrow. Actually it's a RE-reg-pre-reg. I'm getting a bit worked up, not sure why really, at least I won't be graded.

My only real concern is that, due to recent weather conditions, we have been unable to put up a length of picket fence and a gate in our garden at a change in level. We have bought fence and gate and I have done a drawing to show how it will look, but not actually DONE it. And of course put it on my RA to be done.

I'm hoping that's good enough? Rest of the house is tickety boo, done loads of stuff not usually required at pre-reg.

Mrs O said it will take 3 hours - really? Is that right? My first one in 2008 was only about an hour.

Will let you know how it goes :-D

Hope it's gone well today! Sounds like you had it all in hand anyway. When I had my pre-reg there were a couple of things in the garden that we knew needed doing, but hadn't completed yet. She said she could either just register the house and not the garden, or if we agreed to complete the required work within 10 days she'd carry on with registering the whole property. So it was easy enough.
My pre-reg was 3 and a half hours!

I think the weather is a good reason as to why it hasn't been done yet. Mine was 3 hours. My friends was 2. Varies from inspector to inspector. :D

Yes it went well thanks. 3 hours and 15 minutes. Garden issue was OK as it was noted on my RA and deemed low risk. Said I would not be using my garden until fence put up (this is not a boundary fence but at a change of level). Im not starting until after half term week anyway.

We had some interesting discussions about the focus now being less on RAs and more on Suitable Person and Learning & Development. She wasn't at all concerned about my lack of stuff like cupboard locks and socket covers. She even said they don't worry unduly about a lack of stair gates (which, frankly I could not live without).

Also had an interesting discussion about Calpol, ie: Ofsted's disapproval of 'blanket permissions', even when backed up by texts and emails, so I need to do a bit more research on that one before re-draft of policy and permission slip.
Not sure, as a parent, if I agreed with her TBH.
:-/
I imagine there must be a thread about it somewhere...
