I'm expecting my grading inspection this week. She advised will be here around 9:30am.
However the only child I have (11months) at her expected time of arrival will be asleep from 9:30/10:00 till 11:00/11:30.
Do I let him sleep as she wont see me interacting with him or try and keep him awake??
Also as he sleeps in the same room as I'm sat in - normally I'm doing paperwork whilst he sleeps - I don't keep a record of checking him whilst his sleeping. Is this ok??
Many thanks for your responses.
I would keep everything as you normally do it otherwise you will have a cranky baby. When I was inspected she was with me the whole morning and went after lunch so she will have plenty of time to see you interact with baby.
I personally would record checking baby even though you are in the same room.

I agree with TNT, stick to your usual routine or you'll end up getting stressed over a tired, grumpy baby! The inspector will be able to use the time to go through your paperwork, ask any questions etc.
As for recording checking him while he's sleeping, I've never done that. It's in my policies that I will check sleeping babies regularly, but I don't write it down. And if you're in the same room as them you're aware of them constantly. You're not going to go & look at them every 10 mins or so, you're going to be listening for them the whole time. I wouldn't have more paperwork just for the sake of it.

The child i look after happened to stay asleep for three hours on my inspection!! We were able to have a really long chat. I kept checking on her and when she finally woke up the inspector observed us. All went well and the inspector even said the baby must be very secure to be able to rest for such a long time.

(I've never recorded checks on sleeping children either - not even heard it suggested before this post)
:clapping: glad it all went well.
I check on sleeping little ones and record it in their daily diaries, I like parents to know that I check on them regularly. Might just be me being a bit overzealous:o
