Hi

Not sure I have popped this in the right place but here goes....

I currently have the below

1 boy my own in reception
1 girl my own aged 2
1 boy 8 months 6am-2pm

Can I take a 2 year girl and her sister 4 months??? I also have 2 rising 5's on random nights dependant on parents shifts???

Hope that makes sense

Thanks

No you are only allowed 6 under 8 including your own children.

You have 1 more space left

Evn if you didnt have the 2 rising 5's on various nights you still only have 1 eyfs space left :)

Presumably these new children would come at the same time as the current 8mo then i would say no.

3 under 5's and only one of these can be under 1 at any one time, which this would take you over.

Just another quickie do I only have one space even if they are sisters...

Also the reason ask is that the 2 sisters were replacement for the 8 month old as his notice was given by mom and once I had enquiries for replacement she withdrew.... What would you ladies do??

yes they still count as two children even though they are siblings (not sure i understand why they wouldn't?)

Yes you still have 1 place even if they are sisters as its new business.

Are you asking if you should give notice to the 8 month old for the new ones? Well only you can make that decision - what reasons did the mum give for giving and retracting her notice?

This is something that confuses me, because before Sept EYFS I had only one space and had an enquiry for twins, I called ofsted and after submitting a variation I was able to take them on. So does this mean we can no longer do this?

She handed it in because she lost her job and then retracted it because she found a job this isn't the 1st time this has happened either!!!

I have just either been misinformed or misunderstood that you can in over your numbers with siblings as its continuity of care.... I am getting confused and what with the mess about from 8 month olds mom!!

Twins are exceptional circumstances. No one would expect you to spilt twins up. But its only twins they make the exception for new business. Sibling strangely dont get the same consideration

i would say if there is no one in the area that can take them both then this will be allowed.but you will have to check that no one can take them.i might be wrong but surely siblings will be treat the same as twins.no one would expect then to use two seperate minders.as long as your total never exceeds 6 under 8 though, soyou couldnt have both after scoolies at the same time as the rest of them

Continuity of care is only when you already look after one of the children and their mum has another baby. New business isnt class as such.

Continuity of care is also if one of your mums needed to change her hours and you needed to have 4 under 5's.

If you can take them if the 8mth old leaves and the 8 month olds mum is constantly running hot and cold as it were as she has given notice and you have accepted and have the chance to take new children on I would say the the 8mth olds mum that i was sorry but this time she can't change her mind because you have already filled the place. It is tough sometimes but remember this mum doesn't think twice about giveing and taking back notice so she shouldn't be surprised if you fill the vacancy she has created.

The main thing with number is not to go over the 6 under 8s.

Give the 8 month old notice (or acept the notice she gave to you. Keep a dated record) and then take on the 2 sisters. Then if mum of 8 month old needs to return it will be continuity of care. Otherwise it can only be continuity if you accepted the girls and did contracts whilst the 8 month old was definitely leaving. Hope that makes sense xx

You would be going over 6 under 8 years so you would need the other baby to leave to take on the siblings. I can see this will be an area that inspectors will be looking at as there are so many minders out there that think that they can have 4 children in the under 5s even if it is for new business and minders will end up bring down graded following inspection
