I charge for the 6 hours in between, but make sure that the hourly rate for those hours etc comes out at a reasonable daily rate. I wouldnt have them for an inset day for free.

Sorry I meant to say they will not be coming that day ;-)

I dont charge if they are not coming because my term time only charges are only made for the days that their school is due to be open. So no charge for inset days but yes charge if they close for snow or any other reason etc. But it really comes down to what you agree with the parents and then is written into the contracts.

I don't charge if they are term time only, as the parent's definition is that they want care after school, therefore do not expect to pay for inset days.

I would still charge normal if they didn't come and my day rate if they came all day.

I charge my term time only contracts according to the term dates set out by the local authority.

I give parents a copy, say these are the term dates, so these are what I will be charging for. It means that if a particular school starts a term late, finishes a term early or has inset days I charge for them. I charge the usual amount if the child doesn't attend or the full day rate if they come for the day.

It's all set out in my contracts.

I ask the parents what they want to do about inset days. Other CMs have told me that if ou dont ask, then the parents don't even think about inset days until they happen, then assume you've already agreed to whatever they want, when it hadn't even been discussed.

It then goes into the contract, and we stick to the contract. Simple as.
