Hi, some advice needed please.
I have a little one of 30 months, had them since they were 7 months, 4 days a week, family members have them for the 5th day.
I found out by accident this week that lo started attending paid session at a local Nursery for the 5th day, - in May!!
I know this family really well, and was surprised they hadn't said anything before this, so I casually said to Dad, I hear lo is going to Nursery on Wednesdays, and he was a bit embarrassed about it, but said there was problems with family being available regularly. Fair enough, but -
Shouldn't the Nursery be contacting me in line with the Partnership Working theory? Or should I contact them?

If you didn't know about them then may not have known about you! I would write a letter of introduction and get parent to sign as well, sheet with wha thtey like doing at yours and what sessions they do as a starter......

I have never known a nursery come to me first
It seems all down to us - and never sure if they will respond or be on board.
I have recently sent a letter via parent to mindees nursery and awaiting reply - we will see :)

I too have never known a day Nursery to contact me and also had a parent send him two days a week when she had reduced to one day a week with me from 3 because she couldn't afford me during mat leave??? I found out and was livid because she expected to walk back to me in Jan with 3 days a week for two and not paid any retainer. I laid down the line and made it clear that if they didn't sign a contract with me and pay deposits I may well not have a place for them in Jan! They have now done this and pulled mindee out of Nursery and he is with me 3 days a week from next week and sister comes in Jan.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the comments.I think I'll write to the Nursery and introduce myself and give a little profile of lo, however as they've been going since May, they probably have their own ideas.
Mum put lo with them when let down by family as they're cheaper than me by 50p ph.
I asked Mum tonight if lo will be taking the free sessions with that Nursery next year, and Mum hummed and haaed a bit and said they'd not made a decision yet. This Nursery is 4 miles from me (rural area no bus route) and I don't drive, whereas our school Nursery is 5 mins along the road from me. I'd always got the impression they'd use our Nursery, (they're in the catchment area ok) and that I'd do before and after sessions with lo. Not so sure now. Think I'll ask them to make a decision by Jan as lo starts Easter term and I'll need to advertise the place for a replacement.
