Hi there I've just recently registered and had my first inspection. The inspector was lovely and the whole inspection process was quite informal which put me at ease. The inspector looked through all my paperwork and the notes I'd left (not yet done a SEF).

She went off for an hours lunch then came back to say she thought the setting was lovely and that I had got 'Good' in all areas. Fantastic news I was soo pleased and went out to celebrate with family meal at the weekend. This was all short lived however as at the start of this week she called me to apologise but Ofsted, after checking my inspection notes had changed my grading to Satisfactory!!!!!! Not impressed at all but nothing I can do as I have to kind of agree with why they did it but I'm dissappointed to say the least that they changed the initial grading.

Grrrrrr this is the 2nd clanger Ofsted have dropped with me (1st one was contacting my boss for reference after specifically asking not to - luckily I had an understanding boss)!

Phew, rant over sorry all but thought i'd share this with you!

Whilst they always tell you the grade could be changed, yours is the first I've heard they have done it. Very disappointing for you, I'm sure it won't make any difference to you getting work.

Thank you I'm sure it wont. Only 2 parents out of the 7 whose children I care for have asked how it went, outcome etc. and both of them have given me positive verbatim I could give to Ofsted. None of the other parents have asked about the inspection. I suppose the one good thing is that I can now focus on the areas O want me to improve on. I have a loooong list to work through :)

Ah I'm sorry you went through that. I do find it odd that if they initially gave you 'good' in all areas how it managed to get changed to an overall satisfactory.

I had the same with mine, they didnt change the overall grade but took away some of the Outstandings I got and changed them to Goods. Apparently the 'powers that be' go over the Inspectors report when it gets back to the office and they can change anything they dont agree with.

This is why we are told not to share the outcome until we get the grade in writing.

Mine was altered 3 years ago but from a good to an outstanding.

It's down to the new way Ofsted grade. They give grades on 3 areas rather than numerous as with the pre-Sept 12 inspections. Due to not doing a SEF and ongoing assessment not fully developed they dropped me from 2,3,2 to 3,3,3 :)
