I know that you are probably all bored with reading the same old questions so apologies now

I have a little girl that i look after as an irregular contract one week its one day, then two days the next then i may not have her the following week. I was the only childminder in the area that would do it, and it worked well as i have another flexible one and both have given me the days until the end of the year!

Anyway to cut a long story short, mum emailed me the other day saying dad has a new job and they would need me Wed, Thur and Fri. I explained this wasn't possible as i would be over my numbers, anyway mum has now chosen a nursery for those days but the nursery can offer the Thur and Fri from 22nd Nov and then the Wed from Frb. I have said that i will help out as much as i am possibly able as the little girl took a very long time to settle and typically now she is very settled and understandably mum doesn't want to have to find a new cm for such a short period and unsettle her, before her move to nursery.

I do have an assistant who is first aid trained and approved by Ofsted. I can help but from now until Nov there are a couple of times i would be one over my numbers and from Dec until Feb on the Wed i would be one over. My assistant is able to work so how do i go about applying to Ofsted for a variation of numbers to help mum and dad out?

Sorry for such a long post and i hope you all understand where i am coming from :)

You don't apply to ofsted any more, read the revised eyfs it sets out under what circumstances you can increase your numbers. Note you can never have more than six children under eight years on your own

If you already have this child you need to RA your own premises and then you could have the child under continuity of care and up your numbers for yourself and not need an assistant

As he above two posts have said... Risk assess and u can continue to care for child as long as its not for new business. Also you do need to think about whether logistically you personally can cope with having the extra child that day.

There is a document in free downloads at the top of the forum 'changes to conditions of registration from Sept' which you might find helpful :D

Thank you all for your responses I did think this but read some other things that confused me so wanted some clarification. I will have my assistant with me that day so all will be under control!

Thanks again everyone :clapping:
