Parent gave me four weeks notice yesterday (Tues) that they would be dropping Thursdays and Fridays and only attending Mondays and Tuesdays. Notices started from yesterday, so the first week of the new contract will start week beginning 29th Oct?

Yes I'd say so as long as you state 4 weeks in the contract :D
