Ive got hp officejet pro 8600 only about 6 months old it's saying offline when it on will not print need urgent due call from ofsted this is all I need. I've got a notebook and want work with my sons computer

Try unplugging everything and then setting it up again, checking all the connections.

If that doesn't work the next thing to try is to re-install the printer in case it has got corrupted somehow.

If that doesn't work see if there's an HP helpline.

if the printer isn't installed on your notebook try clicking on devices and printers to see if you can connect it that way. OR e-mail an attachment to your sons computer and print it that way - or even at the local library and print it from there if they are open sat. morning and you can wait til then
