Hi there

I am applying to be registered for overnight care. My inspector has told me to write to the CSSIW and explain how I will care for the children overnight and include additional policies.

I'm just looking through the NMS Annex A (Overnight care) and could someone just clarify in a.2, does this mean a mindee would need to have a bedroom to themselves? So I couldn't put up a travel cot in the same room as my 3 year old?

The standard says -

a.2 The children sleep in a separate area or room, which is adequately heated.

So theoretically you could argue that you have put up a bed in a separate area of the bedroom, maybe separated by a chest of drawers or a bookcase for privacy.

I'd draw out the room and show where your son's bed and the childminded child's bed would be going to make it clear if I was you.

Of course there will also be considerations about the sex of the children - I can't imagine they would let you have a boy and girl sharing, especially after a certain age.

Thanks, I've started to put together my letter, and had included a room plan. I thought too that the reference to 'area' would probably allow for me to segregate part of the room for privacy.

Thanks
