Hi all, I'm totally confused. Just registered in August when old rules applied, got my certificate stating I can have 4 children (due to size of house), of which 3 can be under 5, 1 under 1. Does this still apply now rules have changed? I was under the impression after September we could have as many as we liked as long as we can provide individual care to each?

Also confused about over 8s.....Can I have 4 under 8s + as many over 8s as I can provide quality care for? or am I still restricted to 4 no matter what age they are?

My brain hurts... hope someone can help make sense of it.

Thank you xx

No you can still only have your 3 under 5 unless it was a case of continuity of care, special circumstances. You cannot grant yourself a variation for new business.

Over 8's dont count in your numbers however check with you insurance provider on how many you are insured for. Also if ofsted have reduced you numbers due to space be careful on how many you are having due to it impacting on the los care.

You can only ever have as many children as there are listed on your certificate under 8 at any one time.

If you have more you will be over minding.

If you have been given less children because of the size of your house then you are full when you reach that limit.

The majority of childminders are registered for 6 under 8... you are registered for less so that is your limit.

Over 8s do not count.

Hth :D
