Had my pre-reg this morning (same inspector who did my 6 month inspection when I was previously registered). She was there for 3 hours and frankly my brain hurts!.

Now here's a thing. Kent said I had to resit the ICP course despite completing my last one in Mar 2006. My Ofsted inspector thought this was ridiculous , saw my certificate and said 'I'm happy with that' and marked down that I do not need to complete a course within the 6 month timeframe.

Called the local NCMA office who basically tried to scaremonger me into the course saying that 'who knows in a few years time if you don't have the DHC1 you might not be able to childmind'. Inspector told me to get on a EYFS course (which I booked this afternoon). Question is - do I go with the inspector and not resit the ICP/DHC1? She's cleared me to mind (once husbands CRB appears), gave me 6 children (4 if you don't include mine) and said I obviously know what I'm doing? What would you do???

Secondly I already have parents wanting to use me. Specifically a little boy who is a month younger than my youngest. Mum is due to have her second next week and asked whether I would be able to take the baby in Feb. Spoke to the inspector about variations of certificate and she said she couldn't see it being a problem as my oldest will be 4.5 years and would only be around after nursery (3.30-6pm). Should I believe this - I know Ofsted like to place siblings together and in reality it would mean I have 2 under 5s, 1 under 1 and my daughter. I want some idea as the mum wants to know if it could be possible.

I need a drink and a bucket of maltesers!

I would go with the Ofsted inspector - she is after all your 'boss'...

As far as the variation goes, I'd get a letter in and ask asap ... you never know what they will say!

I would definitely go with what the Inspector said.

NCMA were quite forceful with me trying to get me to complete the full DHC when I really wanted to do an NVQ. They said all sorts of nonsense which I took no notice of:laughing:

Hope you get yor certificate quickly
