Thank you all - and how nice for Agent Tink to post it.
No I did not challenge the inspector - after five hours of pilot inspection I had had enough (and if you remember I had had only a couple of days notice and was in a lot of pain with my leg) Anyway - I knew she had to think of 'something' and in a way was glad that that was the only thing she could think of.
Also not a real inspection - so does not stand - so i don't have to action :D
I would challenge if a real inspectition

totally my thoughts too. i have one LO who is asking what words are in books, sounding out, asking the sound of specific letters and another LO of the same age who likes listening to a story and that is sufficient.
it makes me laugh when inspectors come up with 'silly' recommendations - mine was to share more with other professionals .. i didn't have any mindees at nusery or preschool, i spoke to teachers at school most days and saw HV every month at baby clinic!

Wow, well written Penny and very interesting to read.
The Ofsted inspector obviously had to dig deep to find any recommendations to come up with that one.
