Have been invited to the christening of a lo I look after, have had her for a little while, all going ok but I gel with the parents on a work level but they are not my kind of people and I like to keep work and my life separate - what does everyone think about going? In truth I don't really want to go but its tricky.....

I have been to lots of Christenings over the years, 2 Barmitzvahs ( I'm not Jewish so quite an honor) and a wedding.

I think it depends on your relationship with the parents/child. I was invited to a wedding reception (just last weekend) and we all went :)
Personally I would be thrilled and would love to go but if you don't feel comfortable juste say you're busy and don't go

I have been to a couple of birthday but always always ended up 'looking after the kids'! got a bit fed up with that, so very selective to what I attend now! but in your case if you dont want to go, dont!;)

I would wimp out totally and compromise:blush:....can you go to the actual service but make an excuse of prior arrangements for the 'do' after if they're having one?

I totally agree, the service would be lovely to see, but then make excuses for the party
