Hi all sorry if I'm on wrong forum thread. I was trying to find one that discussed the application form.
I 'm trying to get my head down and complete lots today but I keep hitting brick wall.
Stuck on page 11. It asks for statement on safe guarding access to information held at premises and restricting access to building .
Do I just write that information held at premises will be locked away?
And that my front door will be locked at all times?
seems to simple but maybe I'm making it to complicated. My head hurts with these forms!!
Thank you for any advice

Have a look at the Information Commissioners Office website - that will give you advice about document security and safety.
www.ico.gov.uk
Good luck with the application form! :D

Hi
Yes CSSIW want to know how you will safeguard information and your premises.
My statements say that Information is stored in a locked box and I also have a lockable filing cabinet - in my house the filing cabinet is away from my minding areas so I also put that in. The inspector checked that I had a lockable box & filing cabinet on my pre-reg visit. So only write what you are going to do. As Sarah says you should also look at ICO website - any personal information stored on a computer or if you use a digital camera to take photos you will need to register with ICO when you start childminding so you could put a bit about registering when you start minding. I also included this in a confidentiality policy stating that all information is confidential and would not be disclosed to anybody except in the case of a child protection issue, that CSSIW can see all paperwork at any time and that parents can see all paperwork that I hold on their family at any time.
Also think about windows and garden too. I have a padlock on my garden gate. Children not opening the doors to people even if they recognise them(as my DD2 kept trying last year:rolleyes:).
It is quite simple they want to know exactly what you will do when you are minding.
Good luck:thumbsup:
