I'm tip toeing in as I have a hangov.....err headache :cool:

aNYWAY one of the local minders has said that her cm friend just had her inspection and was told by my inspector that we are now allowed 4 under 5....it's actually 3 but we are allowed 'at our discretion' to have a 2 hour window to have 4 due to nursery starts and finishes and the crossovers.

that i can see will work as we know that we cant take on others due to the break at dinner time with morning nursery or afternoon nursery, I can however see {especially with some local minders} that this would be taken for granted ..we have to sign some sort of declaration over the next few months before our new certificates come out.

Not sure if manjay/tulip whether you have heard on the grapevine also?

I'm still waiting for my new cert as I put in a variation form as my daughter is in full time and I should have been given 1 extra space due to new ratios...

Sorry to take so long to come back to this one but as I have had a few members ask me I thought I would do some extra digging. This is one pf the replies I have received;

'I checked what was happening about variations very recently with the Senior Inspector in Carmarthen. There had been rumours that childminders could make the changes and just send their amended statement of purpose in.

Her advice was that childminders still need to contact their inspector in the first instance, and each request would be looked at and agreed on an individual basis, taking all circumstances into account.

Also that the service being provided must exactly reflect what is in their statement of purpose, as the full details of numbers etc are not going to be on the certificate in future'

CSSIW are holding a numbers of Modernisation events with stakeholders in September and there may be new guidelines at that time but at present things are as they have always been.

when i had my inspection in May i asked my inspector about us being allowed on our own to have 4 under 5 for short periods of time i.e school runs
she said just change our statement of purpose, risk assess and send them and the parents a copy of the new statement of purpose.
was going to phone to confirm but haven't as yet

we have had our new certificates and it just says we are allowed 6 under 8 when working alone and 7 under 8 when working together.
