I had a call from Ofsted the other day to remind me i was due an inspection. Have been manically sorting things out thinking i will get another call to say when/what time, but worried now i have this completely wrong and Ofsted will just show up on the doorstep one morning!

This will be my first graded inpection so really dont know how it all works! Do they have to 'book' a day and time with me as it were or can/do they arrive unannounced (except for the call to remind you!?)

Please help as need to know if im up all night finishing off things incase i get a knock at my door tomorrow!:panic: :panic:

Well they would need to check if you have any children on your books & when you are in generally speaking, ie school runs, toddler sessions etc

As far as i know this is how they work although if others have had them just land on your door step, i'm sure they will let you know.

Good luck :)

The woman who rang asked what days i worked so i told her and she just said thank you and someone will be round to inspect shortly!

I currently mind Mon-Fri, before and after school!

oh well in that case i'd say they will be round within 2 weeks

when i had "the call"

I was told that week or if she hadn't shown then it would be the following week.

You'll be fine, don't panic. Its not half as bad as you will be imagining it to be. :)

Well they rang to say they were going to a friend who minds before and after school only... and took 3 weeks to visit!.. but at least there was plenty of notice to get things organised :D

So am i to take it then that they will just turn up?

Was hoping i'd get another call to give a day and time at least! What if they turn up and ive left for the school run already?

Sorry Straws, did you mean they called on the day they intended to inspect or the day before?

I got the call on friday at 3.30pm and they told me they would be round wednesday or friday, she wouldnt tell me exactly which day, just that if she wasnt round by 10am to go on with normal day as probably not coming.

I had a call a couple of weks ago. THey asked did I start childminding as soon as I was registered, to which I said no it was 3 months after. Reading between the lines I felt had I have said yes my inspection would have been sooner rather than later. I know its looming sometime though. A friend of miner also was asked the same. I think Ofsted are playing catch up.

I've been told by my development worker that the inspectors in our area are so far behind with the EYFS training that they won't be doing any inspections till September (unless it's an emergency of course).

I registered last August and began work right away and haven't had my inspection yet!

I'm not going to believe my development worker until 1st September!
