HELP!

I have been minding for just over a year now so this day is long overdue. I am due to go on maternity leave in a few weeks time so I contacted Ofsted to let them know that I still had not had my first inspection and wanted it done asap.

They called yesterday and are coming next week.

I just have a few questions, if you could help I would be so grateful.

I have had contact with my area SENCO regarding one of my mindees speech and she helped me to refer him for speech and language therapy. I keep this information in his file along with contracts, letters to parents etc. Is this ok?I want to show that I worked in partnership with my local authority.

Safeguarding - I have a safeguarding folder which contains my training certificates, the contact names and numbers of the children's social care team in my area, blank forms for filling in concerns and showing marks etc on the child's body and the sheets from my training courses.
Is this enough?
With regards to child protection. If I thought a child as being abused I would report my concerns to the children's social care team in my area and I know that I do not have to tell the parent that I am doing this. If I thought there was physical abuse happening, would I have to tell the parent that I was contacting social services? I think no but want to check.

Visitors book - I do not have one. Is this a problem?

If anyone has any other tips that you think would help, I would appreciate hearing them. AAAAAGGGHHH!!!

hi, safe guarding children! you do not tell parents if there are any concerns about the safety of the child, if they are at risk of serious harm, which could mean physical or sexual.

Don't panic!!

Yes it's fine to do it that way. I tend not to put info about meetings and such like in children's LJ files - I feel that their files should be a celebration of what they are doing, not a litany of their struggles.

Safeguarding - I have a safeguarding folder which contains my training certificates, the contact names and numbers of the children's social care team in my area, blank forms for filling in concerns and showing marks etc on the child's body and the sheets from my training courses.

Safeguarding policy and procedures should include info about mobile phone and camera use from Sept and the revised EYFS - there's no harm in you including this now!

You don't tell parents if you are concerned the situation for the child will get worse. Otherwise most safeguarding policies and procedures say that parents will be approached and their responses noted.

ChecK what yours says!

No, a visitor book is not a requirement - but you must show how you record info about visitors to share with children's parents and for safeguarding.

Keep calm, think before answering and don't get stressed it will be fine! :D
