I'm a new member and had to join to share my experience of the pre-reg visit. They left about 20 minutes ago and it went like a dream. She was actually late as her sat nav took her to the wrong place, my nerves had gone by the time she arrived because I thought I had the wrong day!

It took less then an hour showed her the rooms I'm going to use and talked about the risks and eliminating them. Becuase I had my policies and procedures in place this answered a lot of her questions on my knowledge of the EYFS standards.

Just got to wait for my CRB checks to come through and then its game on!

Quick question though as I havent got my certificate can I advertise?? I forgot to ask her.

Thanks

So pleased to hear you had a positive visit!

I would wait a little while until the CRBs come back the last thing you want is a parent desperate for a space and you feel under pressure to help.

Hope it's quick for you! :D

Less than an hour?! I had mine on Monday and it was FOUR AND A QUARTER hours. I was losing the will to live. She was using new forms she was unfamiliar with, and she was very grateful I'd filled out the preparatory questionnaire with the same questions. The walkthrough of my house and garden took maybe 15 minutes, the rest of the time was me dictating my answers and her typing incredibly sloooooooowwwly. She was absolutely lovely but I have *no* idea how I managed not to suggest a touch-typing course...

She told me I can't actually childmind til I have my certificate, but she wasn't remotely concerned that I already have clients lined up. I'm advertising, too, though the clients came through word of mouth.

Think I'd have suggested she took the booklet home with her and typed up your answers

At least it's done with now and you should have your certificate soon.

Ofsted called me last week, she said she would come on monday, 2 days ago, for my pre-reg inspection, but then called back and said I needed my CRB certificate through first, so now Im just waiting for that to come through..
How did you have your inspection before getting your certificate? Is this possible? Im going crazy here waiting, does anyone know how long they take to come through? I need to start working ASAP and havent been spreading the word very much because Im not sure if it will be next week or next month!!

As of 1st September Ofsted will not do the pre-reg visit until CRBs and everything else are in place. The OP had her visit before the revised EYFS. ;)
