Hi
I registered in March 2012 and still have no mindees (am finding it hard to start). I am just wondering what paperwork, equipment, i would need ready to show Ofsted (am due my first Ofsted inspection soon) even tho i don't have any mindees at present?
I am a bit lost on what to have ready........any help would be great.

As far as I remember having an inspection without any mindees can be a problem. I am sure someone here can advise- or search old threads. Basically you can't be inspected properly without mindees (or at least you can't get a good grade, as far as I remember) as they need to see how you interact and work with the children. You may be able to postpone, say you are not minding at present, until you have mindees.

Edited to say: your first graded inspection is about 6mths from reg so you have plenty of time still counting from March.

ofsted usually ring you up and ask if you have children and if not ask you to ring and tell them when you have children start.

I'm in a similar boat. Registered in March and with the exception of a one off contract of two days care for a little boy, I won't have any mindees until September when I have two little uns starting.

I've heard rumours locally that Ofsted are wanting to inspect all new minders before the new EYFS comes in. I'm having a visit from the head of our Early Years team on Thursday so I intend to quiz her about it :D
