Hi

I need your help with my first letter to ofsted. I should have done it before really, but I wanted to be into routine before they come and do the inspection really....anyway, this is my lettre, can you please tell me if it is ok and if it makes sense??

I am writing to advise you that since March 2008, I have children on roll. I am childminding children everyday apart from Friday afternoon. Thank you for letting me know when my inspection will be, so that I can make sure that we are home.
I also have a query regarding the number of children.
I currently care for a 14 months old Monday to Wednesday and a 22 months old and a 4 year old Thursday and Friday morning. From September 2008, I will also have a 1 year old every day. The 4 year old boy I care for will be in full time education as of September 2008. He will turn 5 in November. As I already care for his brother, would it be affecting my numbers if I also care for him during the school holidays? Will he be considered as a 5 year old?
I have also been approached by another parent to care for their daughter before and after school and during the holidays. She will be in full time education in September but won’t be turning 5 before May 2009. Will she count as under 5 or over 5? If she counts as under 5, will it be possible to obtain a variation for her and the 4 year old boy?
I hope this makes sense, but if for any reason, you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you in advance

They won't tell you when they are coming but they don't expect you to wait in all day so they might give you a week and say they'll arrive before 10, so you can go out...

I also have a query regarding the number of children.
I currently care for a 14 months old Monday to Wednesday and a 22 months old and a 4 year old Thursday and Friday morning. From September 2008, I will also have a 1 year old every day. This sounds fine, but I think it might look better in a table so they can see the days and who is there when, do you see what I mean? Nothing wrong with it as it is though..

Thinking about it, you could say the age of the brother

I have also been approached by another parent to care for their daughter before and after school and during the holidays. this is the problem with eyfs, you will be looking at getting variations for every holiday, inset day etc but it's worth asking for their clarification in writing.

I hope this makes sense, but if for any reason, you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you very much for the help, I really appreciate it!!
I was not sure how it had to be worded, if it had to be formal or not to formal and wanted to make sure it made sense as sometimes it can be difficult writing a letter especially when it is not in your own language! Mind you I find it easier to write in english than in French, with the French everything has to be so 'official'

Wow Elodie, if you are French then your English is fantastic!
I'd say your letter was fine although Sarah's suggestion of a timetable was a good one.
Good luck!

Great letter

Personally, I would list Monday - then names DOB and hours of child, Tuesday the same, etc.

This is how I worded a variation request recently ;)
