what to charge?

I have a parent who wants childcare Mondays and Tuesdays term time only but on alternate weeks so one week she would want childcare for those 2 days then a week off etc. how would you charge for this as the week she didn't need me I would have to keep open.

Well TT is about 38 weeks, so effectively she only wants you for 19 weeks. I would tell her that a TT contract is a TT contract whether it is alternate weeks or not and charge her as normal. I would also annualise my fees accounting for the 14 weeks non-fee so that way you get that same each month and don't have to worry about the school hols

I would charge a much higher hourly rate for using only 14 weeks in a year.

If she is only wanting a Term Time Contract, and then only using half the weeks, I would want at least 50% retainer for the 2 days she doesn't use. You can't take anyone else on. If it is a school aged child the other option is as Rickysmiths said charge an enhanced rate for the 2 days she uses, but you could still find yourself out of pocket!!
