My SIL and her BF both want to work with kids, either in a nursery or as a CM. It was mentioned about one of them working with me for a week on their school work experience if they cannot get in to the local playschool or nursery... are we allowed to do this? If so what would I need to do?

I did it last year , a student from our local school did her work experience with me.
The school needed a copy of my insurance to check she was covered - you are automatically with MM and it can be added on with NCMA for a fee.
All the usual rules apply that they cannot be left alone etc.
I found it quite hard work tbh but I guess its different if you know them.
