Term time retainers

Hi
I am just starting out as a childminder and I have some one interested who wants 2 hours after school for a pre schooler three days a week then three full days in the holidays. My question is do i charge a half price retainer for the hours he is at pre school to hold the place in the holiday?

It's up to you,personally I charge full fees as I can't fill that place.:)

Its a really difficult one. I would probably try to find a compromise between what they would pay in termtime and what they will pay in the holidays. For example based on my fees they would pay me £9.50 for the after school place but £30 for a full day in the holidays so I would probably ask for £20 during termtime and explain why. A lot of parents wouldn't be happy with it though so it depends how much they want the place.

If I would be required to pick up in case of sickness of any other reason, like pre-school closure, I would charge whilst they're at pre-school. If not then I wouldn't charge.
