Hi

When applying for a variation, what do Ofsted look at?

I am currently looking at applying for one, and just wondered how long they
take to answer yes or no???

Many thanks

They look to see if it's for continuity of care or for taking on a sibling of a current mindee. They then want to know about the children you look after, their ages etc, that you are still within your overall maximum numbers, if you have sufficient equipment and what your routine would be.

Basically, they want to know that the variaion fits the criteria and that you have thought about how you would manage an extra child, ensuring that each child has their needs met.
