help please

I have my first after school mindee starting this week but am confused about the level of planning and observations that I need to do, he is 5 years old and is in full time school and will be coming to me for just 3 hours after school 1 day a week. Thanks

To be honest I would do any planning until you get to know him and his interests and what topics he is doing at school.

Just chill and enjoy. Take photos of what he is doing to go in a scrap book and just link them to areas of learning.

The as you get to know each other you can plan ahead to his interests.

Like Ricky says for the first few weeks just spend time chilling and following his interests.

Find out what he does at home after school as well so you can complement his care at your house.

You will need to put together a Learning Journey for him until the end of the summer before he starts in Year 1 (August 31st).

However it will only be small because he is not with you much. Why not put him in charge of taking photos, adding artwork etc.
