how old he is? happy birthday tortoise boy!!!

my dad has one in france which was given to him years ago, already adult and it's been leaving in the flat just like that... no light, no special floor nothing!!! when he want warmth it goes by radiator and it hibernate behind the toilet, coolest place :D dad had it over 25yrs already.

so i don't know how much i should invest in but i suppose if you take baby one you need the lot:thumbsup:

I've always wanted a tortoise but we just don't have the room, or a proper garden for it to go in :(

My brother had a tortoise called 'Hedgehog'. He climbed on the back of my tortoise to esape over the little pen we used for on the grass...it was only about six inches high, but he escaped and was found in a neighbouring garden trying to look suspiciously like a rock :panic:

I would like one but debating as they can live for ages

Last year when DH had to go and collect something for work, I went with him for the drive as I had a day off. We took the scenic route through kent/sussex. We stopped at a NT house/garden for a picnic lunch in the car park :) and couple in the next car had their tortoise with them - let it out to have a walk about!

Their son had been minding it while they were on hols and they had collected it to bring it home - it was her mothers and her son would inherit when they could no longer look after it:D. It was full of beans and quite old:laughing:

Have a look at the tortoise trust website for advice, tortoises need specialist care and are a big responsibility, it is very sad to see a tortoises stuck indoors in a vivaruim trying to get out all the time. my ex brought my daughter one without asking me, we had to rehome it when she went to uni after 6 years, very sad. my advice is to do your research...

Hiya, we have a tortoise. Everyone loves her and one of my mindees has even had her to stay for a long weekend!

She lives mainly in an indoor rabbit hutch, with a heat lamp and UV lamp, but she is still young. We plan to build her an outdoor enclosure for the summer as she gets bigger.

A tortoise will always scrabble at the edges of whatever they are housed in, even if it was a mile wide they will work their way round the edges. Mine goes out in the garden or loose round the house, but she will still find something to push against even then.

She is a hilarious, cheeky, stroppy little madam and way more entertaining than you would imagine!
